Smoking Cessation Pregnancy Program - May 6th, 2011
Arkansas has one of the highest smoking prevalence rates in the country for pregnant teens and women. Research shows that there is a higher incidence of miscarriage, low birth weight babies, and infant morbidity and mortality when an expectant woman smokes.
TPCP is committed to helping pregnant women overcome their addiction to tobacco by providing coaching and medication through the Arkansas Tobacco Quitline. Additionally, TPCP recently launched a pilot program in partnership with Health Department Units in Craighead and Mississippi counties to provide a small financial incentive each time a pregnant woman makes positive strides in her choice to stop smoking and stay quit.
