New Addition at the Madison County Rodeo Fair Grounds - April 18th, 2011
The Madison County Rodeo Board was recently given the opportunity to allow an organization to set up a booth at its event to hand out free samples of smokeless tobacco. The board declined, and stated that smokeless tobacco would not be distributed during the rodeo or any other time. To express its appreciation, Coordinator for Tobacco Education, Brenda Patterson and the Madison County Health Coalition (MCHC) collaborated with the Huntsville Agriculture class to replace an old wooden bench around a tree inside the grounds with a new metal bench that can accommodate the growth of the tree.
MCHC paid for the materials, and Steve Johnson and his class built and painted the bench, brought it to the grounds and put it together. Pictured above from left to right are Cordell Ashby, Dakota Hickman, Nicholas Boyd, Cody Wages and, in the background, Steve Johnson, agriculture teacher. MCHC gives a big thanks to the class for their good work and the beautiful bench. MCHC congratulates the rodeo for all its efforts to make the rodeo grounds a tobacco-free event with the SOS tobacco-free signs and a new bench.
