Coalition for Tobacco Free Arkansas Hosts Educational Breakfast - April 18th, 2011
The Coalition for a Tobacco Free Arkansas hosted an educational legislative breakfast meeting on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at the Capitol Hill Building. Fifty-eight individuals attended the early morning meeting to learn more about the perils of smoking and tobacco use in Arkansas, as well as hear strategies of how to reduce the health burdens caused by tobacco use. The slate of speakers included: Katherine Donald, Executive Director of the CTFA, Barbara Kumpe with the American Heart Association, Dr. Carolyn Dresler, Program Director of the ADH Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Program, Dr. Gary Wheeler with the American Academy of Pediatrics, Rep. Fred Allen and several grassroots advocates from across the state. Among those in attendance were 17 legislators, including Speaker of the House, Robert Moore. Several legislators joined voice with Rep. Fred Allen as they shared their commitment to protecting children from secondhand smoke, especially in motor vehicles. We extend our kudos to those elected officials.
